Androgyny and Cold Weather go Mitten in Mitten

It's winter time in North America, and if anything shows how closely the lines of male and female fashion can come it's winter gear.

Not only do the puffy coats and sweaters look freaking awesome, they also help to minimize the appearance of certain curves and maximize the bulk of limbs and torsos.

Many coats are also available in identical styles for both men and women, for instance, purchasing a leather jacket can be completely gender neutral, and scarves, hats, and gloves are also available in the all encompassing styles of black and gigantic.

Honestly, nobody can tell who or what you are if you're dressed appropriately

Stay toasty out there, and look good!

Big Boi Appropriates Boi style

In a recent piece syndicated by Yahoo news, male rapper Big Boi is depicted showing a number of classic boi fashion flares.

If you'd like to see more, check out the full story.;_ylt=A0SO8xwX1fVVwsEAS.FXNyoA;_ylu=X3oDMTEyZjZwajJmBGNvbG8DZ3ExBHBvcwMxBHZ0aWQDQTAxNTdfMQRzZWMDc2M-

If you deconstruct his identity, you can really see a lot of influence from the lady bois out there, from his oversized baseball jersey, ill fitting bandanna, oversized cap and baggy sweats, this guy dresses like a girl dressing like a guy.

He's even got the studs in his ears to seal the deal.

Summer time and the Fashion is Hot

It's summer time, and the fashion is hot.

Goodbye winter, hello heat!

I'm seeing a lot of shorts and capris on the street.

Patterned t-shirts and light hoodies, ballcaps and sunglasses finish up some stellar looks.

Why is Tumblr so accessible for Bois?

If you are into looking like a fashion forward boi, there are fewer places better to find model clothing styles and people to emulate than Tumblr.

The question that presents itself is why Tumblr, as opposed to other websites or places online?

There are probably a number of answers, and all of them have their own contributing factors, but I will try to explore a few of them below.

Tumblr is a very flexible website, where people can present themselves and their content freely and select exactly what kind of content that they want  to consume. If you are a member of the LGBTQ community and identify yourself as genderqueer, there can be a lot of hostility and misunderstanding on more conventional forms of media, and Tumblr permits you to seek out only the positive and reinforcing content that you want to consume.

For example, you are unlikely to find examples of images like this on another site.

Are you on tumblr? Do you look to tumblr for fashion advice? Do you hate tumblr? Feel free to discuss in the comments below.

What are the first things that you see when you look up "Boi"?

I've been using the Swagbucks Search Engine for my searches lately, and what normally comes up when I search the term boi is pictured below.

Nothing spectacular, it's a definition on Wikipedia, some shots of bois from tumblr, and a few unrelated terms.

Not to mention a host of unflattering items for sale.

I want to change that. I want to make Boi Around Town the top site on the web for information and community about Bois and boi fashion.

If you are with me, then do your part! Leave your comments, share the site with your friends, and post ideas for future posts that can help get people interested in Boi Around Town.

This site isn't about the administrator, it's about the end users and what they want and need.

To be succinct, the site is for you, the readers. Speak up!

Springtime for Bois

The weather is changing and it's getting warmer outside, so what is a boil to do?

This is a great opportunity to really show your style and express yourself. You can go all out with a summer buzzcut, mohawk style or fauxhawk style haircut, or even go for a mainstream Pixie cut.

Now that you are done with winter coats we can think about sweaters, jackets and slacks.

As far as sweaters go there aren't many better than the Patagonia goodies and jumpers that come with a lifetime warranty and never really go out of style, but you would also do well with Ecco, FUBU, and if you a e really strapped for cash, Champion.

For slacks, jeans are always an option, especially jeans shorts, but there is a great debate over whether to wear men's jeans or women's jeans, and it usually comes down to the fit. Women's and girls jeans are a little too close for a lot of bois, and it's often easier to get their look in something baggy.

Another great option for slacks is drop crotch sweats. Once reserved for high fashion, drop crotch sweats are now serious street wear for boos all over, especially in the city scenes where a lot of culture gets started.

Boi Fashion in The Homestretch

There isn't a lot of depiction of bois in the standard media, but if you look around you can still find a few figures on the fringe. The independent film project "The Homestretch" is a documentary focused on sharing the stories of homeless youth navigating their way through life and trying to improve themselves and their situations.

One of the key figures in this documentary is Kasey, a young LGBT woman who was forced to grow up a lot faster than most when her parents forced her into the streets because of her sexual orientation. Throughout the film, she wears gender-bending gear, starting out in shorts and a tee shirt, and moving onto sagging jeans and polos, sweaters, and eventually a men's style coat and large studs in her ears.

In case you are interested in exploring the concept of homeless LGBT youth further, you can catch the film for free on PBS's home page for a few weeks but even if you don't feel like learning too much, you should check out her look.

This lady has got it put together.
